Flowers and Food

I am really bad at posting on my blog. Sometimes I even wonder why I have one? Does anyone even read these posts?

Anyway...summer is flying by! We leave for a NYC visit in two weeks. I can't wait!

Chloe and I dug up and planted a flower bed in March or April, I really can't remember. She picked out the seeds. Here is her bed in full bloom...

I have been addicted to the cooking channel. I was watching some show on Saturday night, I can't remember who the chef was... She made this light summery salad with zucchini and asparagus, olive oil/fresh squeezed lemon/fresh ground pepper. It looked so yum! I had to make it. I didn't have asparagus so I used green beans instead. Green beans and zucchini from my garden! Yum. Yum.

Enjoy.

Rainy days.

It's dreary and rainy here in good ol Wisco today.

I finished up my first ever custom order!!!
The woman really loved my flower hair pins but wanted brooches instead. So hear ya go...

I sent out some shirts to my man that Chloe picked out. I hope he likes them and I hope they fit him.

I think my photo skills are improving...here is my latest listing to my site.

What do you think?

Life

I have a blog and haven't been posting anything on it. Wow...what a waste.

Life has been super busy. School, Craft shows, Chloe, warm weather, work.

I had one awesome craft show and the other one not so much. Thank whoever is our god that the second show I did in April was not my first. Note to self: If a show has an animal + fest in the title...probably not going to do very well.

My garden is doing amazing. I should post pictures later this week.

Here are some things that have been going on in my life lately.

New Fiber...oh how I love new fiber!

My latest yarn...'Salt Water Taffy'

Broc Pesto...so yummy!

My loves.

Till next time...which will be sooner than you think.

I love spring!

My boyfriend comes in a few days, I am so excited.
The Spring Fling Craftacular will be here before I know it, all the nice weather is making me want to play outside instead of making stuff!

Uggh.

exhaustion

It's been a week since my last post...I think the time between posts will continue to get long. The weather has been seriously amazing the past 4 days. I have been outside digging up the earth getting ready to plant a beautiful garden.

With all this digging comes some serious exhaustion! Phew...I'm beat by 3:30 every afternoon.

So far I have started the following seeds: Basil, banana peppers, cilantro, beets, lavender, mint, and an italian seed mix (different kinds of lettuce, arugula, chicory, and a few other things I can't think of). The basil, cilantro, and beets have sprouted. I can't wait for the rest to sprout!

new project

and well it's a doozy!

I realized this morning that my favourite sheets have a rip in them, thanks to my lovely little dog Lucy. So finding that out what's a crafty girl like me to do? Well throw them in the wash and start cutting strips and braiding!

Here's the start...

leaves and mud

Ahhh, I love the smell of spring. The melting snow, grass and trees coming to life again. I went outside with Chloe for about 3 hours and ran around playing tag, and raking leaves. I can't wait to start planting a garden. I have serious gardening fever right now.

I also managed to make a new necklace today.
White White White button necklace...it's lovely!

I also got great news that my boyfriend will be here soon!

love!

Goodbye Snow

Awww...the weather is beautiful here in good ole' Wisco. The snow is melting, it's a muddy mess outside.

I have had spring on the brain lately, but really...who hasn't? Tonight we are supposed to have our first rain showers of the season, very exciting.

Here is a new button necklace I made the other day after soaking up the beautiful blue sky.

Some more yarn I spun...I think I am going to give this to a friend that I am doing a personal swap with. I am very excited about this yarn. It's beautiful 'art' yarn.

And lastly...my little monkey pretending to be a paper bag girl, this was hilarious.

I start work today...at a liquor store in the next town over. Should be interesting and very easy. I will be able to knit and spin while I'm working!! :)

pizza and yarn

Today I was starving for lunch, I was craving hummus so naturally I made some! After it was done I started getting everything ready to have a bagel sandwich and then found some nasty mold on my bagel. That idea went out the window. Hmmmn, I sat there and thought about what else to make so I ended up making myself a vegan pizza! Cauliflower, broccoli, asparagus, tempeh, and honey BBQ as the sauce.

It was delicious...I forgot how nummy vegan pizza is!

More little baby skeins of yarn, just plain white and a mix of black and white. I love all the wonky-ness of the yarn. I am obsessed!

Today I worked on this BEAUTIFUL art yarn...pictures tomorrow!

Baby...I think not.

Ugggh...I really hate being called baby or babe. My boyfriend calls me those 'pet' names all the time. It wouldn't bother me so much if they were only used for me...but he calls EVERYONE that's a lady those names, his friends, his co-workers. It's not a 'pet' name or term of endearment if you are using it for every lady that is in your life. I actually find it a bit uncomfortable when being called baby or babe.

I would rather be called by just my name or nothing then be referred to as baby or babe.

Is it too much for a girl to ask that if her boyfriend feels the need to call her a 'pet' name that he uses it just for her?

felting

I admire people that do wet felting, there are some beautiful items that have been created!

So, I saw a link about felting over a bar of soap.
http://www.mielkesfarm.com/felt_soap.htm

I figured that being new to felting that trying to wet felt over a bar of soap would be the easiest project to tackle.

Without further adieu, my felted bar of soap!

It's far from being perfect, but I think it was pretty good for a first project!

Floral Love

I am in love with vintage flower linens...table cloths, curtains, hankies, everything.

I am proud to introduce the newest hankie in my vintage hankie collection...
Roses are Red (well, that's what I am going to call it!)

It's beautiful, I love it!

I was in an embroidery mood today so I made a piece inspired by a sonnet that Edna St. Vincent Millay wrote, here is part of it:

In loveliness, and cannot so erase
Its letters from my mind, that I may trace
You faultless, I must love until I die

Here's the piece:

It is stitched on a vintage floral table cloth. For sale on my Etsy store!

XOXO.
